Grenbug

This card is from SVS How to Draw Everything.

This lesson is the final project for the class, which is using all the techniques learned to draw a character. I last did this in hour 14. The improvement is dramatic! It’s so exciting to see. I still have a long way to go, but I am improving and it’s getting easier. It was still very scary to begin, but then once I started, it flowed really well. I did a pencil sketch earlier today of Alex and then used worked on this later in the day. I used the same pose from the class, and even the pose makes more sense to me now. I still need to learn a lot about the human figure, and how to draw clothing, and find references I want to use for armor and costume. But, overall, a great effort.

Next time I will pull some reference for costume and props before I start drawing. I didn’t know what I was doing with some of these. I made a bad mistake on the sketch and had the hand grasping the sword above the hilt, for example, which was easy to correct digitally, but would have been harder to fix on paper.
