This card is from SVS How to Draw Everything.
This lesson is about using everything from the class to draw a tree, so we start out with basic form and shape, then move on to details and basic tone. I worked in Photoshop this time and the process was easier, it seems to get better each time I practice. I like the basic design, but felt I could have pushed the angles a little more. This is from a Minecraft tree built by Red and it leans over a creek. I caught a little bit of it, but could have pushed it more. I also am out of practice with tree shapes, I could have practiced first, then did another. But this took me just over an hour, so I wouldn’t be able to do it all. I think since this is a ‘final’ demo project, it’s ok to just focus on one piece. But I also need more practice!
Next time I will work from a real life reference, just to get a better feel for the tree structure. I also need to work on my shape language for leaf and bush shapes. This feels very cartoony, which isn’t bad, but I would like a little more design around it.
Photoshop using Huion tablet.
I worked a little over an hour to complete this image.
