This card is from SVS Light and Shadow.
This lesson is about looking at a scene of basic objects and figuring out the local tone of those objects against a background. My last time doing this, I just did the class example, today I used examples of simple shapes from Pinterest. I’m just doing simple boxes and spheres and only doing local tone. Then I can use these examples for the next lessons on shadow and light. I am learning more and more about drawing in Photoshop and there are some things I am getting and other skills I’m just not understanding. I tried doing two practice drawings using just shapes, but then I tried on this last one to so an undersketch and it was much better. So I’ll stick with a basic undersketch on these things for now. One tricky point on local tone that I found was that at first I was drawing a few shadows in, for example a tablecloth going over an edge. But that darker area would be shadow, not local tone, so I had to adjust. Something to keep in mind for next time.
Next time I will try more complicated shapes and start with an undersketch.
Photoshop using Huion tablet.
I did an hour of work practicing, this is one of the images I made.
